Happy Halloween!

My husband and I have lived in the Montrose area for a little over a year. We first discovered The Montrose Crawl purely by chance when we were walking Louis, our Chihuahua. We were taking him for a trot around the neighborhood as we often do when we discovered hoards of zombies, fairies, and serial killers had invaded Westheimer. We are big into Halloween, so I can’t even begin to tell you how excited we were about it.

That night, I called my best friend and told her I found what we were doing for Halloween next year! She was just as excited about it as I was. After waiting what seemed like an eternity, Halloween was finally approaching. It was time to decide on our costumes. My BFF and I were discussing it and she says to me, “Let’s be slutty. I’ve always wanted to be slutty for Halloween just once.” Being the awesome friend that I am, how could I deny her something that was on her bucket list? Even though it was completely against my nature, I decided to suck it up and take one for the team. Slutty it is….within reason.

It won’t surprise you knowing my skull addiction that I wanted to go as something Day of the Dead related. My first finds were a black tutu and long skeleton printed gloves from Party City. I had it in my head that I wanted a long bright blue wig. I scoured several stores until I found the perfect one at Spirit Halloween. I also wanted to make a fascinator with giant flowers and skulls on it. I assembled the supplies and my grandma (the crafting genius) helped me make it. I LOVE how it turned out. It is hands down my absolute favorite part of the outfit, plus we had a great time working on it together. My plan was to paint my face black and white like a skull, but the makeup I got just wasn’t working right. I ended up wiping it off and just doing a lot of bright makeup. Luckily, my best friend saved the day because she had blue sparkly eyeshadow that matched my wig exactly.

My husband decided to match me, so we found him a full skeleton printed body suit at Halloween Express. It even had a skull mask. Done! Guys have it so easy sometimes.

My best friend chose slutty cop for her masterpiece. I have to say, she really pulled out all the stops and went for it. She rocked it too, I might add. I think she may have a future in law enforcement.

After the fact, I was told that I wasn’t really dressed all that slutty. Compared to some of the costumes I saw, I really wasn’t, but for me, guys, let me tell you my skirt was SHORT!!! I’m proud of myself for breaking out (WAY OUT) of my comfort zone and trying something new. Sometimes you just have to take that leap. We had an amazing night and made lots of memories.

Happy Halloween!!!

XOXO,

Sara
