Oscar de la Renta Exhibit Comes to Houston

It’s that magical, yet stressful time of year when everyone is scrambling to pick out the perfect holiday gifts for family and friends, etc. This year, my boss asked me if I’d like to go see the Oscar de la Renta exhibit for my present. Um, YESSSS!!! ‘The Glamour and Romance of Oscar de la Renta‘ is currently on display at The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston through January 28, 2018. You can tell he was very influenced by his travels as themes of Spain, Russia, China, and Japan are evident in his designs. The exhibition also features gowns worn by fashion icons and celebrities, including Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Amal Clooney, Penelope Cruz, and Kirsten Dunst. It was pure eye candy, and we couldn’t quite imagine what it would be like to have pieces like these just hanging out in your closet. We both particularly enjoyed seeing Amal Clooney’s wedding dress. The layers of delicate fabric and the detailed embroidery were stunning up close. My personal favorite of the exhibition was the dress that Kirsten Dunst wore in the September 2006 issue of Vogue. I can remember reading that issue of Vogue and obsessing over those stunning Marie Antoinette inspired photographs. I had an absolute blast, and I’m so glad that the MFAH was able to bring an exhibit like this to Houston. I highly recommend checking it out before it’s gone!
